Today, the Women’s Philanthropy Council (WPC) has about 30 members. WPC members have had a tremendous impact at UW–Madison, both collectively and independently. Since launching collaborative giving in 2004, we have supported 35 projects totaling $683,000. Through four WPC Great People Scholarships, we have raised and awarded to UW students $283,650. Together with their households, WPC members have given more than $500 million to UW–Madison.
2025 Collaborative Giving Project
Through member voting, we have finalized the 2025 collaborative giving project: the WPC will grant $30,000 to the project A Remedy for Polarization? Citizen Conversations across Difference in Wisconsin. This project in the La Follette School of Public Affairs highlights the contributions of female scholars and aims to uncover the critical role women play in reducing affective polarization. By bringing attention to gender-based differences in political attitudes and the importance of engaging the female electorate, we hope this project will inspire further research and advocacy that supports women’s involvement in governance and policy-making.
Previous Collaborative Giving Projects
Past collaborative giving projects and WPC giving have included funding for scholarships/fellowships, early childhood care and education, mentoring and leadership development, building community, women in STEM, and the 4W Initiative.
